One of the things that I love about my childhood is that I have so many fond memories of the beach. As a child, my mother would celebrate our birthdays or even Christmas (yes, Christmas) at the beach. Which would explain why I love the beach so much. There is nothing in this world that could compare to the sound of the ocean waves, the smell of the ocean breeze and the feeling of warm sand on your toes. There are a lot of times I drive to the beach just to look for solitude, quietness or just for a nice place of serenity.
This weekend was the perfect weekend for the beach since there weather was so nice. I went to the beach on Saturday, knowing that on Monday, it was a complete no-no. Since it is Memorial Weekend, there are soooo many people in Miami that are out-of-town, that we choose to drive a bit of north to get away from the chaos. By up north, I mean a mere 30 minutes away from my house ( I live 15 minutes away from the beach, lol). This is one of the advantages of living in Florida, our shoreline is practically endless 🙂 . I choose to wear a maxi skirt and a two-piece suit. I must say, that this is my third time wearing a two-piece suit. As a child, I was always very shy about wearing two-piece bathing suits, that I normally wore one pieces or simply jumped in the ocean with my rugrat shorts ( oh the childhood days) and white t. So, wearing a two-piece is actually earth shattering news in my family, he he. Anyways, I must say, I am glad that there weren’t many humans around to see me!
Outfit Details:
I don’t like wearing much to the beach. I think a full on outfit defeats the purpose of going to the beach anyway, so I stick to the very essentials. I wear my bathing suit and a cover-up. I choose this maxi skirt from Mink Pink as my cover-up since it looks very beach-y to me and lets face it, this is that one piece you can wear to the beach or an other summer day. I mixed and matched my bathing suit since I don’t have many. I bought the bottom at H&M a few months ago ( I did buy the matching top, BUT the story behind this suit is too long to cover) and the top I purchased at Old Navy last summer. I liked the thought of mixing both pieces up as they were both florals essentially but different types of flowers, the top is more tropical and the bottom is more spring. I don’t wear make-up to the beach and I don’t understand why would you. I did wear flip-flops but wearing shoes on the sand can get a bit tricky.
Hope you all had an amazing weekend.
Happy Fashion,
Karla.
